First Haircut

Last week, after some debate, we gave S her first haircut.  This decision required some thought and reasoning because after 13, almost 14 months of life, S barely has enough hair to cover her head, let alone enough to require a haircut.  So the hair she does have is quite precious to us and it seems almost wasteful to cut it.  But, it was looking pretty shaggy.  Actually real shaggy.  And kind of reverse mullet-y.  I did not have the foresight to take a good “before” picture prior to the cutting – but to describe it – the left and right sides of her hair in the back were about an inch and a half longer than the hair in the middle.  An inch and a half doesn’t really sound like much, but when you don’t have much hair, it is.  So, it had to go.  And now, it looks so clean and even (at least in the back), so I’m happy and feel like we made the right decision to cut it.  But for what seemed like a somewhat contemplated decision, no one has even noticed that she got a haircut.  Welcome to the life of a first-time parent, where the littlest things seem big.
