Today was S first day at preschool.  I took a few hours off in the morning so that I could take her to school and wait til she got acclimated before I left for work.  For me, it was a mixed bag of emotions – excited, nervousness, sadness, guilt, bittersweet.  Still, I got myself ready for work, woke, fed, dressed S and off to school we went.  I had visions of tears and leg grabbing and of teachers having to peel her off of me.  But she calmly went into the classroom, said “Hi!” to a fellow student, and started playing.  So proud!  And yet, another reminder that my baby’s not a baby anymore.

With all the thoughts going through my head, guess what I forgot to do?  Take a “first day of school” picture.  Major Mommy fail!

There was only one way to fix this – go home and fake a “morning of the first day of school” pic.  Yes! Crisis averted!  No one will know!
