Happy New Year! And Merry Christmas??

So it’s now 2013! And Christmas has come and gone without a single post. I think most have seen the photo updates of Christmas in other social mediums, so I don’t feel too guilty, and almost feel like I could just move forward with this post instead of  reflecting back – I mean, the holidays happened, Christmas shopping happened, traveling happened, lights, singing, eating happened, then lazy vacation mode happened – we all know the drill. But then I think about future me showing a grown up S this blog and facing a bad mommy moment when she asks, how come there is nothing about Christmas 2012? Well, ehh… (Do I sense a need for a NY resolution?)

But Christmas was wonderful as always. The highlight was an amazing service we attended at my sister in laws church. To say it was amazing does not even do it justice – from the message to the music to the snow that came down inside the church, it truly was such a blessing.

NYE, on the other hand was much more low key.  We spent the day with good friends and had some laughs, but called it an early night and sadly, did not make it til midnight.  We’ll have to try harder in 2013.

2013.  A number that still sounds so unfamiliar to me, even though it is the obvious successor to 2012.  But a new year means a new beginning and another chance to make changes.  And although 2012 was pretty great, in the spirit of continual improvement, I hope that in 2013 I can do better, be better.   For me, that means working on being present and engaged in whatever situation I am in –  if I’m at home, then being a good wife/mom/family member/friend, if I’m at work, then being a good employee and focusing on work.  Not making  a mental check list or thinking of other things – to be there mentally, not just physically.  And to finding a better way to reconcile, balance and find contentment in the division of Mommy me and Individual me and the needs, wants and necessity of both sides – something I really struggled with last year – a work in progress.  But I am hopeful and really excited to see what 2013 brings.  Happy New Year everyone!
